Get Set For Work (GSFW)

Part of the Queensland Governments ‘Skilling Queenslanders for Work” (SQW) initiative.

The Worklinks R.A.C.E project – Retail and Café Employment.

Worklinks runs a number of Get Set for Work programs – one at each of Caboolture, Mitchelton, Kippa-Ring and Strathpine.

Young people are generally eligible if they are 15-19 years of age and have disengaged from school.

The program runs for between 12-20 weeks and participants – some participants can finish in the shorter time; others may require a little more assistance.

Participants are given the opportunity to complete Certificate II in Retail Services. Barista skills are offered as electives for those who would like to develop these skills.

Participants undertake two days per week of unpaid work experience and attend their Worklinks centre for retail training, employability skills development, literacy and numeracy training (if needed) and job search for the other three days per week. The hours for work experience are whatever the normal work hours are for the employer who is providing the placement. The hours for training are 9 am – 3 pm.

On conclusion of the program, participants are assisted to find employment or, if they prefer, assisted to return to education.

Please contact your nearest Worklinks centre for further information.  Worklinks has qualified youth workers and trainers – this is a great opportunity!!
