This course is tailored to highlight the important steps to save an individual suffering from cardiac arrest – a serious condition that around 70 Australians suffer from every day according to the Heart Foundation of Australia. During the course, you’ll learn the important acronym DRSABCD, and even which songs have the right tempo to keep a heart beating and your loved one “Stayin’ Alive”

HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid

Do you require first aid training as part of your role? Would you know what to do in an emergency? Learn the fundamental skills of both First Aid & CPR in this blended qualification. You’ll cover how to care for an individual suffering from choking, burns, wounds or anaphylaxiss until help arrives. Learn how to save a life and become a superhero in disguise, ready to help those in need, no matter the situation!

HLTAID012 – Provide First Aid in an education and care setting

Are you working in a child care or education setting? Complete HLTAID012 – Provide First Aid in an education and care setting and learn to help the littlest in our community. This course covers the core learning of HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid, contextualised for a childcare setting. Learn to provide tailored CPR and First Aid techniques to chidren and babies.

Theory

Prior to the practical face-to-face course, access to the online mandatory e- learning material will be provided to the student portal where assessments can be completed. All online mandatory e-Learning is required to be completed prior to the practical course date, students will not be permitted to enter the class or receive certification otherwise.

Practical Worshop

In order to assess your competency of course material, you will perform mock first aid and CPR simulations in a controlled setting. Observations of your practical skills will be reviewed and graded by your assessor to deem competency. Must be able to perform CPR on a mannequin on the floor for 2 consecutive minutes

Resources

You will need access to a computer and reliable
Wi-Fi for the duration of your course. Students must have access to Microsoft Suite including (Word), as well as digital presentation media (e.g. PowerPoint, video presentation, infographic, etc). Course information material is written and includes some numerical calculations.

Worklinks will provide all practical resources required to participate in practical skills workshop, including the use of CPR manikins, disposable face shields and training AED for CPR training, as well as first aid supplies for First Aid training.

COURSE SUMMARY

STUDENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum age of 14
  • Must be able to perform CPR on a mannequin on the floor for 2 consecutive minutes

COURSE DURATION

To be completed over one day (approximately 6.25 hours) from 8:15 am to 2:35 pm
