What is the Career Boost program?
Under Career Boost, an eligible individual may access:
- One subsidised training place in either a certificate IV, diploma, or advanced diploma qualification under the general training pathway; OR
- Up to two subsidised skill sets in priority industries or sectors as part of the program.
An individual cannot do two general pathway qualifications under Career Boost. This is to ensure equitable access for all eligible Queenslanders to a training opportunity.
What courses do we offer under Career Boost?
Qualifications we offer under Career Boost:
How Career Boost Can Help You?
Under the Career Boost program, the Queensland Government helps cover the cost of your training, making it more affordable to gain a nationally recognised qualification. While the subsidy reduces the total course fee, students are still required to pay a small co-contribution amount. The exact fee depends on the qualification selected, with greater subsidies often available for industries facing skill shortages or high demand.
If you hold a healthcare or pension concession card, or if you identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, you may be entitled to an increased subsidy, lowering your contribution even further.
Am I Eligible?
To be eligible for the Career Boost Program a participant must:
- Be aged 15 years or over, and no longer at school
- Be a Queensland resident
- Be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident (includes humanitarian entrant), temporary resident with the necessary visa and work permits on the pathway to permanent residency, or a New Zealand citizen
- Not be enrolled in another qualification even if it is on hold or deferred (not including foundation skills training)
- Not already have a certificate IV or higher-level qualification completed within the last 10 years (Qualifications completed as a school student and foundation skills do not count – Evidence will need to be supplied)
Would I Qualify For Concession?
A concessional student fee is applicable for the following eligible students:
- The student holds a Health Care , Veteran or Pensioner Concession Card issued under Commonwealth law, or is the partner or a dependant of a person who holds such a Card and is named on the card
